Semester 10 - Week 2 - Denial

When is the moment when you reach rock bottom? The moment when you feel like you can't get anything right, when the world is crashing down, or when you feel like all hope is lost! This is the start of something new, a fresh start, and a chance for Christ to renew you from the inside out! He is more than willing, we just have to surrender and stop running from the truth!

Here at The Landing we are in our second week of semester 10. Semester 9 brought a lot of experiences that helped strengthen the leaders and the students. Our first night last week was incredible. You never know who God has to show up each night. You never know if students who have been attending will come back or if God has new students showing up. As exciting as it is to see the students who have been attending keep attending, I stand in awe when I see God bring in a new student and then bless us with being able to witness and pray with that student to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior. Yes! you heard me correct, we had another student receive Christ into their life!!! Woo Hoo! May we all rejoice with the angels in heaven!!

Through all the steps or lessons that we work on in The Landing, there is no greater blessing and feeling than seeing someone accept the Lord into their lives. It brings us all so much joy.

"The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving."
Psalm 28:7

But, none of this is possible without Principle #1 - Realize that I'm not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do that wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. It is coming out of "denial" which is what we spoke on last week and what we will be continuing to speak on this week. That place when you hit rock bottom is realizing that you no longer are able to do this life on your own. We need to stop running away from God and start running into His arms.

These are lyrics that express the struggle of breaking down, surrendering, and being set free by Christ!

Verse 1
The hurt builds up and the lies go on,
You've hurt people you love and you can't move on.
You're in a deep hole, and you can't break free,
There's only one who can heal you,
If you'd open your eyes and see.
Chorus
Stop runnin', stop runnin'
Don't you know He's willin'
Stop runnin', oh stop runnin'
Don't you know He's willin' to set you free!
Verse 2
For so long you've been bound in chains,
Drowning slowly in your pain.
You've been looking for a fight,
You keep lookin' for a win,
You don't know where to go,
Or how to give in!
Chorus
Oh, oh stop runnin', stop runnin'
Don't you know He's willin'
Stop runnin', oh stop runnin'
Don't you know He's willin' to set you free!
Bridge
So lay down your pride,
Lay down your guilt.
He's right by your side, He knows how you feel!
So don't look back and just let go! Oh let it all go!
Chorus
Oh, oh stop runnin', stop runnin'
Don't you know He's willin'
Stop runnin', oh stop runnin'
Don't you know He's willin' to set you free!
Don't you know He's willin' to set you free!
